Appliance Repair in Streetsboro
Turnpike exit 187 puts Streetsboro about 44 minutes from our Parma base. Houses or apartments, we will come and fix whatever quit.
One discount per visit. Mention it when you book.
Streetsboro's one of the easier long drives we make. Turnpike to exit 187 and you're basically there, usually about 44 minutes from Parma. So yes, a morning call out here can become an afternoon visit. We'll still tell you the real window and not a hopeful one.
The town is young by Northeast Ohio standards. Half the houses went up after 1991, according to the Census. Roughly one household in three rents, and the old Shady Lake Park on Route 14 is apartments now. Owner kitchens one day, a stacked laundry closet in a complex the next. That's a normal week here. Plenty of the houses still have the dishwasher or range the builder put in, which by now is getting tired.
Soft county water changes the detergent math
Most of Streetsboro's water comes from Portage County's Shalersville plant. The city's water page says it's well water. Aurora's water report, which covers the same plant, says it gets softened with ion exchange. Good news for heating elements. Bad news if you measure detergent the way most of us do, which is not at all.
Soft water plus a full capful in an HE washer equals a foam party. The washer senses suds and keeps rinsing. Now and then it just quits with a suds code. That leftover soap also feeds the funky smell in a front-loader's rubber boot. Try half the cap line for a month. Honestly, that fixes it for plenty of people, no visit needed.
Still musty after cutting back? Our smelly washer article has the cleaning routine.

Laundry on the second floor
Builders in the nineties and since love an upstairs laundry by the bedrooms. Love it right up until a hose bursts. Then the water finds the kitchen ceiling in about ten minutes flat.
Cheap fixes first. Set the washer in a drain pan, ideally one piped to a drain. Swap rubber fill hoses for braided ones, and peek behind the machine when the clocks change. Water on the ceiling downstairs? Close the taps behind the washer, then phone us. A leak that only shows up during the spin usually points at the drain hose or the pump. One that drips even with the machine off is the fill side, so leave the taps shut until we arrive.
Apartment kitchens and stacked units
In a complex the fridge and the washer almost always belong to management. Report it to the leasing office before calling anybody. Managers can book us themselves and tell us where the quote and the bill go. For a handful of units with problems, one call with every apartment number lets us line them up in a single trip.
Stacked pairs live in tight closets. Measure the closet width if you can, because getting at some parts means lifting the dryer off the washer.
Getting a garage freezer through a Portage winter
Cleveland's TV meteorologists count the northern half of Portage County as secondary lake-effect snowbelt, and Streetsboro is up in that half. Translation for your garage freezer? Long cold stretches, plus the odd outage.
- Know your garage temperatureA regular fridge with a freezer on top can stop cooling once the garage dips into the 30s. Its thermostat lives on the fridge side and thinks all is well. A chest freezer shrugs off the cold.
- Pack itFill the gaps with jugs of frozen water. More frozen mass means more hours of cold if the lights go out.
- Give it a minute after an outageA few hours to pull back down to temperature is normal. Humming all night and still warm by morning isn't.
- Dig out the dryer flapDrifts bury low vents. Heat backs up, and the dryer's thermal fuse blows. Kick the snow away after a big storm.
If the freezer lives in the garage, stick a cheap thermometer inside and check it on the coldest morning of the year. Under zero is fine. Creeping up toward 10 means trouble.

How quickly can you get to Streetsboro?
About 44 minutes from Parma by Turnpike. Catch us before late morning and same-day is often on the table. Afternoon calls usually land on the next working day.
Why does my HE washer foam so much in Streetsboro?
County water gets softened, and soft water makes detergent go further than the cap suggests. Use about half. If the suds code keeps showing anyway, we'll test the pressure switch and look at the drain.
I rent in one of the complexes. Can I call you?
Tell the leasing office first. The appliance is usually theirs, and they may have a standing arrangement. If they say book us, pass along their contact so the quote reaches them.
Water came through the ceiling under my laundry room. What do I do?
Close both taps behind the washer and pull the plug. Then ring us. We trace it to the hose, the pump or the drain connection and quote the fix.
Why did my garage fridge stop in January?
Cold garages fool the thermostat into thinking the fridge is cold enough, so the whole unit rests and the freezer side thaws. Some models take a heater kit. We'll look up yours.
How is the repair price decided?
Diagnosis first. After that you hear a single total covering the part and the labor, and you decide. Anything we fix is under warranty for 90 days.
Can you work on stacked washer-dryers in apartments?
Yes. Some jobs need the dryer lifted off, so mention the closet size and whether there's a door in the way. That lets us plan the time properly.
Do newer Streetsboro homes really need repairs already?
Sure. A house from the nineties may still have its first dishwasher or range, and those are thirty years old now. Even a 2010s fridge can lose a fan or a defrost heater. We'll tell you if the age makes a repair a poor bet. A twenty-minute diagnosis settles it.
