Appliance Repair in Garfield Heights
Garfield Heights is about eighteen minutes from our Parma base. Basement washers and rental fridges are both fair game, whoever ends up paying the bill.
One discount per visit. Mention it when you book.
From our Parma base it's about nine miles over to Garfield Heights, under twenty minutes if traffic cooperates. Maybe you live off Turney Road near the civic center, maybe up by Garfield Park Reservation in the northeast corner. Either way we'll find you.
Something you should know up front. We price the job after we find the problem, and we don't touch anything until you or your landlord say yes. If a part costs more than the machine is worth, we'll tell you straight.
Renting your place? Here is how the booking works
Census numbers say about four in ten Garfield Heights households rent. So there's a good chance the stove you cook on isn't technically yours. Fine by us. It just changes who we talk to about money.
- Peek at your leaseUsually the owner's on the hook for broken appliances. Sometimes tenants get stuck with the small stuff. Find that one sentence in the lease before anybody picks up a phone. Saves a lot of back and forth.
- Tell us who paysLandlord paying? Great, send us their number. They hear the diagnosis and the price from us, not secondhand. All you do is open the door (or hide a key under the mat, your call).
- Landlords, we can call you directlyOwn three or four doubles and don't feel like playing phone tag? Hand us the tenant's number. We'll set the time with them and mail the invoice to you.
Still fuzzy on whose problem it is? We wrote up tenant versus landlord repair duties for exactly this. If you manage several doubles, the same article has a section for landlords between tenants.
Houses from the fifties and their basement laundry
Census data says the typical Garfield Heights house dates to 1955. Back in 1970 the city hit its peak, a bit over 41,000 people, and a lot of the housing went up in those boom years. Modest post-war homes, mostly. Plenty of them keep the laundry downstairs by the furnace.
Basement laundry comes with its own quirks. The washer pumps uphill into a standpipe, or hooks over the lip of a concrete laundry tub. Once lint gums up that tub's drain the water rises. Guess who gets blamed? The poor washer. Dryer ducts down there can be absurdly long, snaking along the joists to find an outside wall. All that length traps lint. Hello, two-cycle towels.
Wiring is the other thing. You'll still find dryers on old three-prong cords in houses this age, and outlets gone brown from decades of heat. Warm plug? Burnt-looking outlet? Quit running the dryer and mention it on the phone so we come prepared.
See a puddle by the washer downstairs? Figure out if it's leaking from the machine or bubbling up from the floor drain. If it's the drain, you want a plumber instead of us. We'd honestly rather save you the trip.

What breaks most in older Garfield Heights kitchens
Gas range that won't light
Lots of clicking but no flame? Grease in the burner ports, most likely. Oven stays cold? Look through the glass at the bottom. If that igniter glows orange yet nothing lights, it's gotten too weak to open the gas valve. Super common, and an easy swap.
Fridge sweating inside
See little drops forming on the shelves? Warm kitchen air is slipping in around a tired gasket. Close the door on a dollar bill and tug. Comes out with no drag? Time for a new gasket.
Dryer takes forever
A long vent snaking across a basement ceiling packs up with lint. Clean it end to end before buying any parts. Then, if it's still slow, see what we check during a dryer repair visit.
Two ZIP codes and a Cleveland postmark
- 44125Most of the city
- 44105North end
- Maple Heights
- Cuyahoga Heights
- Valley View
- Independence
- Slavic Village
- Cleveland
If you live here, odds are your ZIP is 44125. The Postal Service files that one under Cleveland. It also stretches into Valley View and Cuyahoga Heights. Up on the north side, closer to Slavic Village, addresses switch to 44105.
We work in both, plus the towns around them. Writing Cleveland on the form is fine. We go by the street address.
Live just over the line in the city proper? Our Cleveland appliance service page lists the neighborhoods we cover there. Slavic Village and Union-Miles border Garfield Heights to the north.
As a Garfield Heights tenant, am I allowed to schedule the visit?
Sure, though glance at the lease first. If the owner pays, give us their phone number and we'll get the OK from them before any work.
Do you work for landlords with several units?
Yes. We can set visits with your tenants directly and send the bill to you. Tell us how you want to approve prices.
My mail says Cleveland, 44125. Is that Garfield Heights?
It might be, or it might be Valley View or Cuyahoga Heights. They share that ZIP. We cover all three.
Why does my basement washer leave water on the floor?
Check the laundry tub or standpipe first. A clogged drain there backs up and looks like a leaking washer. If the tub drains fine, the leak is probably the pump or a hose.
How fast can you get to Garfield Heights?
It's about nine miles from our base in Parma, roughly eighteen minutes. Call in the morning and there's a fair shot we're there before dinner.
The chest freezer in my basement is humming but things are soft. Fixable?
Usually, if it's under fifteen years or so. Start by checking that the lid closes flat and the gasket isn't torn. If it seals fine and still won't freeze, the thermostat or the start relay on the compressor are the common culprits.
The landlord bought a used fridge and it already quit. Can you check it?
Sure. Used fridges often fail on the defrost side first, so the freezer looks fine while the bottom warms up. We'll test it and give the price to whoever is paying.
Is my old gas range worth fixing?
Often yes. Igniters and valves are common parts, and older ranges are simple machines. When the bill would approach half the price of a new range, you'll hear that from us first.
Give the street and what is wrong. Renters, add the owner contact. Expect our call shortly after.
We will call you shortly to confirm a time for your repair.
