Front-load washer on a pedestal in a laundry room

Macedonia's motto is the Crossroads of Northeast Ohio. Fair enough for a town that had around 6,400 people in 1970 and twice that by 2020. Most of that growth came as subdivisions. The census puts the median Macedonia house at about 1990, and only around one household in ten rents.

Put simply, whoever calls us usually owns the washer and pays for it too. So it's a simple conversation. Our tech finds what broke and says what it'll cost. You decide right there in the kitchen. When a part has to come from the supplier, you'll get a rough day for it before we pull out of the driveway.

When the subdivision appliances come due

A street built in the nineties usually got the same builder-grade appliance package in every house. Those first machines are mostly gone by now. The second round went in somewhere in the 2000s or 2010s, and a lot of those are now old enough for a pump or a board to call it quits. Since neighbors bought at about the same time, breakdowns tend to roll down a street like dominoes.

Newer houses also like to put laundry upstairs or off the kitchen instead of in the basement. Very handy, until a fill hose splits on a Tuesday afternoon with nobody home. A plastic drain pan under the washer and a glance at the hoses once a year cost next to nothing compared with a stained ceiling.

Garages are the other spot we think about in a house like this. That spare fridge or chest freezer sweats it out in August, then in January it can sit there half asleep (lots of models just aren't rated for an unheated garage). If yours acts up every time the season turns, peek at the manual's temperature range first. It might not be broken at all.

Braided steel fill hoses last far longer than plain rubber ones. If yours are the original black rubber pair and they're past five years, it's worth swapping them before they decide for you.

Two washer codes worth knowing

Pretty much any washer from the last fifteen years will flash a code at you when it's unhappy. Think of the code as a hint. It almost never says which part died, which is why we test first and replace second. Take a tE on an LG. It can be a heater that burned out or simply a connector that worked itself loose, and those two repairs cost very different amounts.

tELG heating error

LG uses tE for a heating problem. Either the heater or its temperature sensor can set it off, and so can a loose plug between them. Our article on the LG tE code has a reset worth trying before you call.

F5 E3Whirlpool door lock

On Whirlpool washers this one is about the door or lid lock. Occasionally the whole problem is a sock caught in the latch. We wrote up the F5E3 code step by step.

Got a different code, or one that keeps coming back after a reset? Jot it down next to the model number and give us a ring.

Cleveland water in your fridge and dishwasher

Macedonia gets its water from the City of Cleveland (it says so on the city's community page). Cleveland Water puts the hardness near 7 grains a gallon. That's middle of the road, and a little routine care keeps it from becoming an appliance problem.

  1. Fridge filter twice a yearSix months is what most makers suggest. Dispenser dribbling before that? Swap it early. A clogged filter is behind a lot of quiet ice makers.
  2. Flush after a boil advisoryCleveland Water had parts of Macedonia boiling their water in September 2026. Next time an advisory lifts, ditch the ice and let the door dispenser pour for a minute before anybody drinks.
  3. Rinse aid stays topped upEven moderate water leaves spots on glasses eventually. Rinse aid plus a monthly rinse of the filter cup in the bottom of the tub takes care of most of it.

Scale and film get a fuller treatment in hard water and your appliances.

Macedonia repair questions

Mostly about newer machines and their codes.

How soon can you get to Macedonia?

Plan on roughly 35 minutes of driving from Parma. A request made in the morning has a decent shot at a visit that same day.

Do I call the moment a code appears?

Give the reset in your manual a try, or look at our write-ups on the LG tE and Whirlpool F5E3 codes. If it returns, call with the model number handy.

Is a 15-year-old fridge worth fixing?

Usually yes, when the culprit is a fan motor or a defrost part. A leak in the sealed system tips it toward replacing. Either way you hear the price and our honest take first.

Do you fix laundry on the second floor?

We do, right where it sits. If water has already come through the ceiling, close the valves behind the washer before anything else.

Does Macedonia water damage appliances?

Not much. At about 7 grains a gallon it's moderate, so fresh filters and rinse aid usually keep things fine.

Do you serve Northfield and Twinsburg too?

Yes. Both sit right by Macedonia and we drive through them on the way.

Can you fix a fridge or freezer kept in the garage?

Yes, as long as we can reach it. Mention that it lives in the garage. Some models simply aren't built for an unheated space, and we'll tell you if that's what's really going on.
