Appliance Repair in North Ridgeville
Half the houses in North Ridgeville went up after 1995, which means a lot of washers and dishwashers that talk in codes. We read them, find the part behind the code and fix it.
One discount per visit. Mention it when you book.
From Parma it's a straight shot west on I-480, about 21 miles and a bit over half an hour. The interstate runs right into town, so we're on Center Ridge Road quicker than you might expect for a Lorain County trip.
North Ridgeville is big, too, at more than 23 square miles. Whether you're by Sandy Ridge Reservation or near the Eaton Township line, it's all one ZIP, 44039. Some mail there still says Elyria, which is fine; just give us the street.
A town that quadrupled in 60 years
- 8,057people in 1960
- 36,627people now, ACS 2024
- 1995median year a house was built
Most of that growth happened in subdivisions, and it hasn't stopped. The 2020 count was nearly 20 percent above 2010. For appliances, that matters in a simple way. A big share of the kitchens here got their machines in the late 1990s or the 2000s, and a lot of those have now passed 15 years.
That generation is electronic. Instead of a dial and a bell you get a control board and a two-letter code on the display. When one fails, the machine often stops dead and shows the code. That actually helps us, since the code narrows down where to start.
Only about one home in ten here is rented. So it's usually you deciding whether to fix or replace, and we'll give you an honest read on that.
Display codes we get asked about
Jot the code on your phone before pulling the plug. A reset can clear it, and then it's harder to tell what happened.
Won't drain. Start with the little pump filter behind the bottom front panel. Socks and coins love it there. Clean filter and still OE? Then the pump itself is on its way out.
A heating or temperature sensor fault. We wrote a whole guide to the LG tE code, including what you can test yourself.
The door or lid lock didn't latch or report back. Sometimes it's just a bent striker. Our F5E3 article has the reset to try first.
The leak sensor found water in the base pan. Tilting the unit dries it and the code goes away, but the leak is still there. A worn door gasket or a loose hose clamp is common.
Code not here? Read it to us over the phone. Most of them point to two or three possible parts, and we bring those along.
Fridge quit on a weekday morning
Call us early. Weekday mornings are when same-day visits happen most, and 44039 is an easy run on I-480. Meanwhile, here's how to buy yourself a few hours.
Keep it shut
An unopened fridge holds its cold for about four hours. Every peek costs you some of that.
Check the obvious
Look at the breaker and the outlet. A tripped GFCI in a garage or a basement is more common than you'd think.
Freezer still cold?
Then the fresh food side is probably starved of air. A frozen defrost system or a dead fan is our first guess.
Dishwasher filters and Lake Erie water
Your tap water comes from Avon Lake Regional Water, which draws it from Lake Erie. We haven't found a hardness number the utility publishes, so we won't pretend to know it. What we can tell you is about the dishwashers.
Many models built in roughly the last fifteen years have no grinder. Instead there's a round filter under the bottom rack that you twist out and rinse. Nobody tells new homeowners about it. After a year or two it's packed. Water backs up and the dishes come out gritty. Pull it, rinse it under the tap, put it back. If it's clean and you still get a pool of water, we'll look at the drain pump. More on that in why a dishwasher stops cleaning.
Once a month is a good rhythm for that filter. It takes about two minutes.

Fifteen years in, what usually goes first
Dishwashers
Drain pumps and door latches. On many 2000s models the control board sits in the door, and steam over the years gets to it.
Front-load washers
Door boots tear, and the spider arm holding the drum can corrode. A loud spin with a wobble is the warning sign.
Dryers
Rollers and idler pulleys squeal. Electric models burn out heating elements, gas ones lose igniters.
Ranges and ovens
A bake element with a blister, or a gas igniter too weak to open the valve. Both are routine parts.
Before you decide, read our repair or replace guide. A 15-year-old machine with one bad part is often still worth saving.
Is all of North Ridgeville in your area?
Yes. The whole city is ZIP 44039, every street of it. If your mail says Elyria with a 44039 ZIP, you're still on our route.
How far is North Ridgeville from you?
About 21 miles from our base in Parma, a little over half an hour on I-480 without traffic.
My washer shows a code. Should I reset it?
Write the code down first, then try one reset. If it comes right back, stop and call. Running it over and over can turn a cheap part into an expensive one.
Are 1990s and 2000s appliances still worth fixing?
Often, yes. Pumps and igniters for those years are easy to get. A sealed system leak in a fridge or a cracked washer tub is another story, and we'll say so.
Do you repair newer smart appliances in North Ridgeville?
Yes. Wi-Fi models from LG and Samsung use the same pumps, valves and boards underneath. The app is mostly a messenger for the same codes.
How much does a repair cost?
We diagnose, then give one price for parts and labor before any work. Veterans and seniors save $30, a first visit saves $20, one discount per visit.
Tell us your 44039 street and the brand. If the display shows a code, add that too. We phone back with a time.
