Fairlawn, OH Appliance Repair
Of all the towns on the west side of Akron, Fairlawn is the quickest one for us to reach. Expect roughly 37 minutes on clear roads from Parma.
One discount per visit. Mention it when you book.
Fairlawn is a small city, a little under 8,000 people, tucked right against the west side of Akron. Summit Mall sits on West Market Street there, which is Route 18. If you tell people you live near the mall, everybody knows the spot.
From Parma it's roughly 24 miles. That's closer than most of Summit County, which helps when you need someone the same day. Phone us in the morning if you can.
Why your Fairlawn mail may say Akron
- 44333Fairlawn, OH
- Akron
- Copley
- Bath Township
- Cuyahoga Falls
- Wadsworth
Fairlawn's ZIP is 44333. The Postal Service lists Akron as the main city for it and Fairlawn as an accepted name, so a lot of envelopes say Akron even though you're in Fairlawn. Either way works when you book.
Don't confuse it with Fairlawn Heights. That one is a neighborhood inside Akron on the other side of the line. We cover both, we just like to know which one so the technician isn't driving around looking.
Seventies homes with newer kitchens
The median Fairlawn house dates to about 1973, per the Census. Many have been updated since, and the kitchen is usually the first thing to get redone. That brings its own repair quirks.
Wall ovens
A double wall oven with one dead cavity is a classic remodel headache. Sometimes it's the bake element, sometimes a temperature sensor. We test before we order anything.
Panel dishwashers
Dishwashers hidden behind a cabinet panel can leak where nobody sees it. A swollen toe kick or soft flooring in front of the sink is often the first sign.
Built-in fridges
Built-in fridges have their condenser up top or under the front grille. When those coils clog with dust, the fridge warms up slowly over weeks.
For more, see double oven repair and our notes on Sub-Zero refrigerator service.
A dishwasher that leaves spots
Fairlawn gets its tap water from Akron. That supply starts at Lake Rockwell up by Kent, so you're on lake and river water here rather than a private well.
Doesn't mean your dishwasher stays clean inside forever. Give it a few years and gunk builds up in the filter and the little holes in the spray arms. Glasses come out cloudy, there's grit on the plates. Most of the time the filter just hasn't come out in ages. Or the rinse aid ran dry back in spring. Still bad after that? Then we look at the wash pump and the heater. Our page on dishes coming out wet or dirty has a checklist you can run first.
Old trick. Let the kitchen faucet run hot for a minute before you hit start, that way the dishwasher isn't filling up with whatever cold water was sitting in the pipe.

Apartments and condos
Roughly one Fairlawn household in four rents, going by the Census. Renting? If the washer came with the place, ask your landlord before you call anybody. They usually want to pick the repair company, and they're usually the ones paying.
Landlords can just ring us themselves. The quote goes to them and we'll text the tenant when we're about twenty minutes out.
Second fridges and garage freezers
Is there an old fridge or a deep freezer sitting out in your garage? It lives through January cold and July heat with nothing around it. That's a rough life for a compressor, way rougher than the one in your kitchen has it.
Ice cream going soft out there in summer? Brush off the coils and look at the door gasket before you do anything else. Still can't hold zero, we'll come check the start relay and the fan. Our freezer repair page explains more.
Three things to try before calling
- Check the breakerTotally dead, no lights, nothing? Go look at the panel. You'd be surprised how often it's a tripped breaker or a GFCI outlet by the sink that popped.
- Reset the controlPull the plug, count to sixty, plug it back in. Electronic boards get confused after a power blink sometimes and this clears it.
- Look at the filterFront-load washers have a little drain filter behind a door at the bottom. Dishwashers have one under the bottom rack. Five minutes with each, and sometimes that's the whole fix.
Tried all three and it's still acting up? Okay, now it's our turn. Tell us what you already tried so we don't repeat it.
Is Fairlawn, Ohio inside your service area?
Yes. We cover all of Fairlawn in ZIP 44333. That includes the streets around Summit Mall and the ones near the Copley line.
My address says Akron 44333. Is that Fairlawn?
Usually, yes. The Postal Service uses Akron as the default name for 44333 and accepts Fairlawn too. Part of that ZIP spills into Bath Township and Copley, so give us your street and we'll figure it out.
How quickly can you get to Fairlawn?
It's about 37 minutes from Parma without traffic. Of the towns around Akron, it's one of our closest, so if you ring before ten, odds are fair we can be there that day.
Will you fix a wall oven without pulling it out of the cabinet?
Usually yes. Most of the parts on a wall oven come out from the front. When it does need to come forward, drop cloths go down before anything moves. Tell us the brand and whether it's single or double so we block enough time.
What does a repair cost in Fairlawn?
We find the fault first, then give you one price that covers parts plus labor. You decide before any part goes in. Veterans and seniors knock $30 off. New customers save $20 on the first visit.
Do you serve Fairlawn businesses?
Yes. Restaurant owners near Market Street phone us about a reach-in cooler or a commercial oven. Office break rooms count too.
Why is the spare fridge in my Fairlawn garage freezing my food?
Many fridges aren't built for a cold garage. Once the garage air gets cold enough, the thermostat figures its work is finished. Then the freezer half can drift warm. A garage-ready model or a heater kit fixes it on some brands. We can tell you which applies to yours.
Can you fix the washer in my Fairlawn apartment?
Yes, as long as the landlord or manager is fine with it. Tell us the complex and unit number when you book, and give us a gate code or a phone number for the office if we need one.
Leave your street and the appliance. If your mail says Akron 44333, that is fine. We call back to schedule.
We will call you shortly to confirm a time for your repair.
