Appliance Repair in Valley City
Valley City is better known for frogs than for fridges. When yours quits anyway, we drive down from Parma, about 36 minutes away.
One discount per visit. Mention it when you book.
Every August the Frog Jump fills Mill Stream Park, and the rest of the year Valley City is a quiet spot in the middle of Liverpool Township. It isn't a city on paper. It's a census place of about 5,300 people where Center Road and Route 252 meet, with a branch of the Rocky River marking its eastern edge.
Our service area takes in all of Liverpool Township, not just the crossroads. The van comes from Parma, roughly 21 miles. That's why we ask about the brand and the symptom before setting out. Parts that fail often on your model ride along.
Where 44280 starts and stops
- 44280Valley City ZIP
- 1983median year built in the township
- 13%of homes rented
Almost all of Liverpool Township mails as Valley City, 44280. A few edges near Medina and Brunswick carry those towns' ZIPs instead. Either way you're on our route. So is Brunswick, about four and a half miles east on Center Road.
The typical house in the township dates from 1983, and only about one in eight is rented. So in most cases we're talking to the owner, often about an appliance that came with the house.
Check these before you book us
We'd rather you didn't pay for a visit you don't need. These three come up more than you'd think, anywhere we work.
A tripped GFCI
Garage and basement outlets often have a test button. One trip and the fridge out there goes dark. Press reset and listen for the hum.
A control lock
Ranges and dishwashers have a child lock, usually a button you hold for three seconds. Kids and cleaning cloths set it off all the time.
Half a breaker
Electric dryers and ranges run on a double breaker. Lose one side and you get a drum that spins along with no warmth at all. Push the handle hard to off, then back on.
Still dead after all three? Then it's ours. A longer list lives in our checks before you call article.
The fridge that came with the house
Plenty of township homes still run an older refrigerator in the kitchen or a hand-me-down in the garage. Whether to fix it depends on what failed, not on the year stamped inside. A twenty-year-old box with a good compressor can be a better bet than a five-year-old one with a leak.
A dead fan motor or a worn defrost heater. Those are modest parts. A fridge with a healthy compressor can keep going for years after them.
Refrigerant leaking, or a compressor that won't start even with a new relay. On an older fridge that kind of repair often costs more than the box is worth.
Not sure which you've got? We'll tell you after the diagnosis, before you pay for anything else. More on the signs in 5 signs a fridge needs a pro.
Keeping things going until we arrive
A warm fridge? Coolers and a bag of ice for the meat and milk, and keep the door shut. The freezer can wait longer than you think if it's full.
Washer stuck with a tub of water? Switch it off and don't pry at the door. Most front-loaders have a small drain hose behind the bottom panel, but a towel and a shallow pan are a must before you open it. Dryer smelling hot? Unplug it and don't run another load, that's not something to tough out.
Control boards and power blips
Newer appliances run on circuit boards, and boards don't love sudden surges. If your lights flicker a lot, plug-in surge protection on the fridge costs very little. It won't stop a lightning strike, but it takes the edge off the everyday spikes that slowly cook a board.
Why the phone call takes a minute longer
It's about 36 minutes each way from our base. That's fine for us, but driving back out for a part that could have been on the van wastes of your day and ours. So on the call we want the make and the model number, and sometimes for a photo of the problem.
With that we look up which parts usually fail on that model and pack them. Plenty of repairs then finish on the first visit. When a part does need ordering, you'll know how many days it takes before we leave.

Is all of Liverpool Township in your service area?
Yes. Most of the township is ZIP 44280. The edges that use Medina or Brunswick ZIPs are covered too.
How long does it take you to get to Valley City?
About 36 minutes from Parma, roughly 21 miles. A weekday morning call gives you the best chance of a visit that day.
My range shows a lock symbol and won't turn on. Is it broken?
Probably not. Hold the lock or control-lock button for about three seconds. If nothing changes, call us.
Is an old fridge worth repairing?
If it's a fan or a defrost part, usually yes. If the compressor or the sealed system is gone, usually no. You'll hear that before you spend money.
Do you know your way around out here?
GPS does most of it. Center Road and Route 252 are easy, the side roads less so. A note about your mailbox or the driveway saves us a U-turn.
Can a technician come on a Saturday?
Saturday is our technicians' day off. You can still send a request that day, and we'll set the visit for Sunday or later. Technicians are out Sunday through Friday, from seven in the morning until eleven at night.
How is the repair priced?
The diagnosis comes first, then a single quote covering the part and our time. If you say no, that's the end of it. Veterans or seniors take $30 off and newcomers $20. Only one of those applies to a visit.
